DEPARTMENT OF MANAGEMENT STUDIES

The department of Management Studies was established during 2006-07 with the mission of developing globally competent managers. The two years programme is affiliated to Anna University and approved by AICTE with the intake of 60 students. The full time MBA programme is ideal for professionals who feel the need and importance to constantly reinvent them in order to keep up with the global economic scenario.
The department develops a range of conceptual and analytical skills for dealing with practical management problems of an operational and strategic nature. It formalizes the knowledge and develops the management skills and potential of experienced managers, and provides an environment where insightful interaction takes place between students and staff.

All societies benefit from ethical and efficient business activities and the Department provides education, training, research, consultancy and other services which support these activities. It interpret ‘business’ very broadly including work in multinationals, in public services, voluntary and community work as well as within small, start-up and entrepreneurial enterprises.

The MBA degree programme provides options in Marketing, Finance, Human resource management, Operations Management and System. The programme covers a range of management functions including financial management, project management, risk management, marketing management and human resources management.

The Department of Management studies offers two courses for MBA students

SPSS

SPSS Statistics is a software package used for statistical analysis. The software name originally stood for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS)

  • Statistics included in the base software:
  •  Descriptive statistics: Cross tabulation, Frequencies, Descriptive, Explore, Descriptive Ratio Statistics
  • ·Bivariate statistics: Means, t-test, ANOVA, Correlation (bivariate, partial, distances), Nonparametric tests
  • ·Prediction for numerical outcomes: Linear regression
  • ·Prediction for identifying groups: Factor analysis, cluster analysis (two-step, K-means, hierarchical), Discriminate
TALLY

Tally Accounting is a software used for accounting purposes. It is provided by Tally Solutions and is a standard business accounting software. Tally ERP is a very robust ERP product and is a complete business management solution. 

Tally is defined as record, count (as verb) or a record of debit and credit or an account.
